What a lovely surprise! You may recall the fantastic couple, Natalie and James, whose cake I did last fall. They are one of the sweetest couples I’ve met, and their gorgeous wedding was featured yesterday on Style Me Pretty. Check out all the lovely family and vintage details from the day - it was truly beautiful!

Hi everyone! Well, I suppose it’s clear that I’ve been a little distracted from the blog since the beginning of the year… my apologies! As you know, my boyfriend and I got engaged over the holidays, and it’s been quite the whirlwind trying to get the wedding all planned. Add some significant hand surgery (long story - involves falling on a cactus! I’m doing great now!), and things have just been a little nuts.
Since the moment we were engaged, I’ve been excited about having engagement (and wedding!) photos done by Whitney. She is the owner and head photographer extraordinaire of Whitney Lee Photography here in Austin, TX, and she’s also officially becoming my family. You see, she is the lovely mother of my fantastic soon-to-be stepson.
My fiance and I wanted something a little different, a little more “editorial” for our engagement pictures, so we decided to go with a Mad Men-inspired theme. The lovely folks at the Highball graciously let us shoot at their fabulous venue, and we got all dolled up 60’s style for the photos. Whitney was absolutely amazing, taking two people who have a proven history of being ridiculously unphotogenic and creating these gorgeous works of art. I hope you enjoy them - we certainly do!
You can check out all of Whitney and her team’s work at www.whitneyleephotography.com. Take care!
Last night, my fiance and I celebrated the marriage of our dear friends Ben and Leah at the lovely Hamilton Twelve outside of Austin. After a beautiful ceremony, we enjoyed the amazing Austin weather at the outdoor reception and danced the night away with friends and family.
Ben and Leah asked me to create their wedding cake(s) a while back, and it was such a pleasure and honor to design something special for them. Rather than the classic bride and groom cake combination, the couple wanted to have multiple coordinated cakes that were each unique in design. I created three cakes, including one that was inspired by the lace pattern in the bride’s dress. The topper on the green cake was actually designed and created by the groom! The cakes were split between our Lemon-Raspberry Dream and Southern Red Velvet flavors.
Congratulations, Ben & Leah!
Hi everyone! I hope you’ve had a fantastic month… I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while! The holidays were fantastic… in fact, I had the best Christmas present a girl could get… My lovely boyfriend proposed! We’re getting married later this year here in Austin, so things are going to be busy!!
I’ve got some fun new designs below for you to check out… hope you like them!
GIRLY BIRTHDAY CAKE
DENIM & PEARLS BIRTHDAY CAKE
PINK & BROWN 1ST BIRTHDAY CAKE
GUITAR CASE CAKE WITH EDIBLE BAND “STICKERS”
GUITAR HERO WEDDING CAKE
Happy holidays, everyone! I can’t believe we’re halfway through December. I haven’t done a bit of Christmas shopping - ugh!! However, I have been busy designing away - here’s the latest project. This holiday-themed design included red, white, and silver accents, including a large fondant bow topper. Of all the “stripe-y” cakes I’ve done, I’m most pleased with the vertical stripes on the bottom tier of this one…
I’ll have several more designs to share before the holiday break… stay tuned!
I can’t tell you how excited I was to design this cake! The design is is five tiers, inspired by the lovely centerpiece arrangements created by Michelle at the Silver Vase. Each tier was covered in pearly white or teal fondant and accented with brown satin ribbon. My favorite part of the design is the cascade of delicate, handmade sugar orchids.
Hi all! Just wanted to share the lovely post that Meg of Sienna Wedding: Finds for the Modern Bride did earlier this month on Wicked Cakes…
From Sienna Wedding:
When I came upon this cake by Austin based cake designers at Wicked Cakes, I could not pass up the chance to post it. I love the simplicity of the cake itself, and the pop of color and life that comes from the butterflies.
Check out the blog! Meg brings together absolutely lovely photos of all things wedding, from cakes to exquisite table settings to real weddings. Thanks, Meg!

Hi everyone! I had the very good fortune to provide the celebratory cupcakes for Kaci & Roy’s wedding in September… I have to say that they are truly two of my very favorite clients. To meet them is to love them. For their wedding, Kaci and Roy were extremely creative and they worked to have a ceremony (at the Cathedral of Junk) and reception (at Hill’s Cafe) that was warm, welcoming, and whimsical - a perfect fit for the couple. Kaci was kind enough to share some pictures of the evening with me, and I’ve included them here for you to check out. Jon Bolden took the lovely photographs - all the credits for this post go to him!
Here’s what the lovely Kaci had to say about the wedding cupcakes (one of my all-time favorite compliments!):
Seriously, these are hands down the best g-damn cupcakes, with the best cake and frosting I’ve ever had in my whole life. I thought I didn’t really like cake all that much until I had these - rich, moist, with light and flavorful frosting. Highly recommended!!!
Kaci and Roy - I’m so, so pleased to have been a part of your big day! All the best!
